Periodically, in managing a project, I will need to produce a business or other non-technical analysis. But even though the analysis may be non-technical, the tools required to produce the information and the underlying skills needed to interpret the data are often highly technical in nature.

I've created a sample Cost-Benefit Analysis presentation to some of the details required for such an analysis. I've used "generic" names and obfuscated any specific information to maintain confidentiality. Click here for a sample web site Cost-Benefit Analysis.

Sample Project Plans
The Project Design Document forms a basis for the documentation, so a year from now clients know how to make changes and maintain the systems. The proposed software application will measure Commission Distribution, i.e., “Why are we getting this business, and who gets credited?” The goal is to automate as much of the process as possible to save time and reduce errors. In addition, the reporting capabilities will be designed to simplify and improve handling of “exceptions”. Click for a Sample Project Design Document.

The first sample Project Timeline covers a Web Conversion & Database Upgrade for a sophisticated script driven diagnostic system. The systems is currently in use and is fully developed as a prototyped "proof of concept" system. This project included a basic architecture document which consisted of approximately 10 Powerpoint slides outlining the system design. Text described the technical points, which was edit to insure a consistent underlying support for our technical strategy. Click here for the Project Timeline consisting of approximately 100 line items divided into roughly 5 categories.

Click here to view the sample Project Timeline for the development and interface technologies for implementing the XML parser and Vendor "Legacy System" client interface application. This sample includes a VB Application that displays metadata (text) and extracts any .EXE’s. An Operator presses “Accept” or “Reject”; Accept Sends text to an external mechanical system, and provides a hard copy option. EXE’s are sent to a staging server. An email is sent to an external mechanical system operator. The Project Timeline consisting of approximately 70 line items divided into 7 categories.
